Because my first dinner in a Japanese restaurant really impressed me, I decided to know more about Japan. I learnt Japanese in Geneva. I met Japanese people and discovered more about Japanese culture and gastronomy.
I went to Tokyo, and Kansai area during my first trip to Japan in 1998. I had lot of opportunities to taste Japanese food in the country and during my homestay in a Japanese family. Summer 2000, I stayed 3 weeks in Tokyo to follow Japanese courses at school.
In 2002, I spent 3 months in Aizu Wakamatsu (Fukushima-ken prefecture). In a traditional restaurant, I studied Japanese cooking, and learnt from my homestay families how to cook homestyle recipes and everyday dishes. It was a great experience.
These stays brought me lot of experience and good knowledge about the Japanese gastronomy.
Today, I want to share my experience and advice you about the best of Japanese gastronomy and list the best restaurants in the Geneva area.
Welcome to Geneva’s first online guide to Japanese restaurants!

Hey, this blog is a great idea! I’m Genevois, passionated by food and food chemistry, and the quality of sushi in Geneva is really diverse enough to deserve an advised blog such as yours. So thank you very much for this, and I also congratulate your reactivity, as you have already visited the newest Sauan, which even living really close, I still haven’t! I’m going tonight, and that’s actually how I stumbled upon your site by googling Sauan. Keep up this wonderful work, you deserve to make your site more visible to your potential readers (e.g. international workers in Geneva, hotels, etc)! Have a good day!
